The Discipleship Revolution (Introduction)
|
|
I’m starting a revolution. Wanna come?
You’re starting a revolution? What kind?
Well, I am not really starting the revolution, just fanning the flames again.
Then who started it?
Jesus started the Discipleship Revolution when he said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. (Luke 9:23) Somewhere along the way people tried to domesticate the revolution. They tamed it.
Revolutions are dangerous.
Let’s take the danger out.
Do you want to come or not? Revolutions are not for sissies.
Revolutions change things.
I don’t like change so we need to organize it into my to-do list.
Revolutions take time.
I don’t have an extra minute in my schedule so you will have to shrink the revolution to fit my timetable.
Revolutions include demonstrations.
Well, I don’t want to force my opinions on any one. Let’s make it a chat room.
Revolutions are costly.
I can’t participate. I am already maxed out on my credit. I don’t have money to spare. Can I just get in with a down payment?
Revolutions change everything.
That’s radical.
Jesus came saying, “The time has come. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" (Mark 1:15)
Repentance means change everything.
That’s what He said and that is what He meant.
What does He want us to do?
“The Kingdom of God is near. Get ready. The King is coming. Fill in the pot holes. Repair the bridges. Straighten out the curves. Make an interstate. The King is coming!” And He is calling for you, “Follow me and I’ll make you a revolutionary and then you’ll recruit revolutionaries just like Me.”
It’s time for you to do a U-turn.
Jesus is sparking a discipleship revolution that changes everything. Wanna come?
Everything. That’s revolutionary.
You got it.
